GI ( Geographical Indications ) is a Status given to the products which are having uniqueness/ special reorganization with relate to that particular Geographical area . 
Till date there are 326 registered GI Tagged Products in India, among them following two GI tagged Handicraft Products can used to decorate your house on this special occasion of festival of lights. 

1) Nachiarkoil Kuthuvilakku (Nachiarkoil Lamp)

2) Blue pottery of Jaipur  


1) Nachiarkoil lamp : Handicraft Product from state of Tamil Nadu,granted GI tag status in year 2013, Uniqueness of this product: The different types of soil found in and around Nachiarkoil grips the article firmly while moulding and casting, "karuman sand"which is ideally suited for wax moulding. Different varieties of soil and clay which is available in this particular geographical area makes this product unique to the status of Geographical Indications Tag. 



2)Blue Pottery of Jaipur:
 Handicraft Product from Jaipur, received GI tag status in year 2008, one of the Unique product from Jaipur, Man Singh Iwas the first to bring the art of blue and white to Jaipur subsequent to his interactions with the Mughals and through his campaigns in Afghanistan.
     
Uniqueness of the product:  

  • Blue pottery of Jaipur and its surrounding villages is unique in that primarily it is a ceramic body made of quartz.
  • The pottery is completely hand painted.
  • The quartz composition of the ceramic is well suited to the hot and dry climate of the area.
  • .By wetting the edges, even the dry pieces can be joined.
  • very little post firing shrinkage.
